Unicist Logical Approach: There are no strategies, just strategists

Unicist Ontogenetic Map of Strategic AttitudeThis doesn’t mean that there are no objective aspects of strategy. It means that the necessary objective aspects of a strategy do not exist if they don’t fit into the strategist’s mind.

The Strategic Attitude

The strategic attitude is based on the integration of a value adding attitude and a value earning attitude, in order to adapt to an environment. Both the value adding and the value earning attitude are based on the individual’s ethical intelligence.

There are four different attitudes when dealing with strategic attitudes: Difference makers, Dividers, Adders and Multipliers.

Difference makers

Difference makers have a natural talent to build subjective value in order to increase the valuation of what is being negotiated.

The value they earn is based on the building of a value earning process created upon the value of others.

They are focused on actions driven by strong personal ideas of what they are doing.

Dividers

They are those whose attitude to adapt to reality is based on a dividing attitude.

They are natural developers of alternatives, arguments and any dualistic solution to create a reasonable doubt to generate an empty space in which to find a place to adapt.

They are natural analysts, ideologists and promoters of different solutions within conservative contexts.

Adders

They are those whose natural attitude is to add to a given situation. They are natural positive thinkers who build upon the existing reality.

They do not care to compete with others, because they use others’ ideas. They need to build within a secure environment without changing the category of what they are building upon.

They are natural industrialists and doers.

Multipliers

They are those whose natural attitude is to find the roots of a given reality so as to be able to multiply the results in analogous and homologous fields.

Their capacity of perceiving homologies makes them multipliers. They need to find the nature of “things” in order to multiply.

They are natural discoverers and developers of new paradigms to use them to multiply results.

Conclusions

Understanding the strategy building process helps people to recognize their own strengths and weaknesses when developing strategic planning.  But it also helps to understand competitors’ strategy, based on the knowledge of those who lead their strategies.

Understanding the nature of the strategic approach implies being aware of the strategic attitude, the strategic ideology and the strategic action that prevail in each part.

This knowledge becomes essential for business intelligence to forecast the probable moves and plans of competitors and their consequent antidotes.

Unicist Family Business Strategies – The Unicist Standard

Business-driven family companies and family-driven companies are highly conditioned by the family archetype of each culture and the solution given to the roles that this fulfills.

In the cultures where the affective predominates over the economic and social role, families that have businesses are highly inefficient and are always at risk as they don’t stabilize as institutions (independently of their members).

In cultures where the roles are balanced, business-driven family companies and family-driven companies are distinct fundamentally for their capacity and speed of growth. Business-driven family companies grow more rapidly.

In cultures where the predominant roles in the family are social insertion and the economic role, families with companies have a powerful influence in the environment. Although structurally they have less capacity to grow, they compensate this with the influence exerted in the environment. In markets with imperfect competition they build very powerful empires.

When we are dealing with business-driven family companies we can state that they are more effective than family-driven companies in the active roles, which are hunting, where one goes out to seek the animal in the market, and agriculture where intensive activities are developed.

An efficiently organized business-driven family company is more effective in passive hunting where it works from the basis of the influence of the family brand, and passive agriculture where extensive is what counts.

Therefore each business-driven family company must know what market niche to occupy where it can best achieve results.

We want to highlight that in marginal markets with highly imperfect competition, these concepts have no effects in reality, which is managed by non-company relationships, where the family-driven company has the weight of the family in that society.

Unicist Thinking: Participative vs. Observational Attitudes

There are two basic attitudes in life that are integrated in everyone’s behavior. The participative attitude in which the individual is integrated with the environment and the observational attitude where individuals are witnessing the reality they are living in.

Depending on the situation it is necessary to have one or the other attitude. Observational attitudes are part of the over-adaptive behavior of individuals and require the use of dualistic thinking processes in order to separate reality from the observer.

This approach is a problem thinking approach where reality is separated from the individual. It drives to human non-conscious over-adaptation: domination, submissiveness and opposition when it is not integrated with a solution driven approach.

Participative attitudes are necessary for the adaptive behavior of individuals. It requires unicist thinking in order to manage the conjunction of the elements of reality including the integration of observers.

This approach is solution thinking driven. It drives individuals to influence the environment while being influenced by it.

Unicist thinking cannot be managed by observers; an adaptive behavior is necessary. But it integrates both the integrative approach and the dualistic approach in order to manage the solution thinking approach with the problem thinking approach.

Wisdom is a paradigmatic result of the use of a double dialectical thinking approach and erudition is a paradigmatic case of an observational approach.

Benchmarking: Is the Unicist Standard a Rolls-Royce?

Last week, TURI’s Marketing Manager said “…the Unicist Standard is a Rolls-Royce car” provoking a harsh response of a Unicist Business Search Engine user.

This generated the need of clarifying what a Rolls-Royce is, and if dealing with the nature of businesses, to diagnose, develop future scenarios, build strategies and design organizations based on the unicist theory of evolution, is essentially analogous or not.
