All truly institutionalized businesses have the necessary “100-year plans” to avoid that their strategies become driven by the conjunctural needs of the markets and/or by the needs of the people who lead them. This is the case of Toyota, DuPont, Mitsubishi, Siemens, Honda, etc. Our 100-year plan was developed 20 years ago and is revised at the end of every decade.

The Unicist GroupWe have been revising this plan and fortunately, due to the research work of the research institute, the place of our organization in the world was expanded.

Our original plan defined our business as being a Conceptual Knowledge Bank. As conceptual knowledge is timeless and cross-cultural it requires a high level of maturity in order to be apprehended. This drove the business only towards the elite of the world.

But the researches in complexity sciences, that included the building of unicist objects that emulate the organization of nature, allow expanding the goals giving access to all the “doers” of the world. This allows approaching small, midsize and large businesses.

This drove to the rebuilding of our website that demanded almost 6 months. It also required the change of the business model in order to move from an elite oriented business to a business oriented towards B2B and B2P (business to professionals). The change is synthesized in the following facts:

The presentation of the Unicist Epistemology in 2015, after 15 years of applications, introduced a paradigm shift in sciences that provided a scientific solution to deal with complex adaptive environments.

This allowed managing the field of possibilities and not only probabilities in the solution of complex problems.

The members of the Unicist Confederation share the goal of providing superior solutions to the market, which are based on the paradigm shift in sciences, made at The Unicist Research Institute, that allows the emulation of the organization of nature in businesses.

The “Back to Back” methodology has been used since 1981. It was basically applied to the solution of complex problems and to the development of unicist objects. A unicist ontological design of a given reality requires the knowledge of the involved concepts. Therefore, the discovery of conceptual structures precedes the design activity.

The major problems of human designs are their incompatibility with the nature of the objects that are being designed.

When designing solutions, there is usually no time to research the concepts involved.

To solve this problem, the operational function of the object is usually considered as an analogy of its concept.

This solution is very practical but insufficient when designing differentiated objects.

The knowledge of concepts is  not necessary when designing objects ruled by common sense (conventional wisdom).

This is a technology created to design solutions for complex business problems. It has been successfully applied in different countries considering their structural cultural differences.

The difference between both types of coaching is given by the focus of their activity. While executive coaching is centrally focused on the internal time of the coachees, the business coaching is focused on the integration of the business technologies, the synchronicity of processes and the time management of the coachee (internal time).

Professionalism in Business

The unicist business ethics requires that individuals be focused on solutions, to solve complex problems, and that they be focused on problem solving, to deal with simple problems. Both approaches require having a real focus on the clients and on the generation of value.

A leading role is defined as the role of a person who is responsible for adding value. Responsibility is a self-imposed obligation to achieve a result.

Professionalism implies that people are responsible for producing results and not only for doing the actions to produce them. Therefore, professionalism is a necessary attribute of businessmen / women and of the leaders of an organization.

Leaders do not necessarily need to be leading people; they can lead projects, a research or any activity where results need to be produced.

Professionalism has two possibilities: to be expansive or contractive. On the one hand, the evolution of professionalism implies thinking in terms of solutions and, after a solution is in mind, the problem is the limit of this solution and the opportunity to make it work. This is the expansive professionalism that allows to expand businesses.

On the other hand, the contractive professionalism is defined by the individuals that approach a business based on the problems they have to solve. This naturally drives to the downgrading of the business in order to make the problems as simple as possible.

It has to be considered that people project their own feelings . People who are focused on problems need to generate problems to solve them. People who are focused on solutions make things as simple as possible to ensure they work.

Paradoxically, individuals who approach reality with solutions in their mind have the capacity of separating their learning process from their working process. This implies that they are not working when they are learning. Therefore they do not need to have solutions, what they need to do is to learn about them. But what they do is learning when they are working.

Individuals who approach reality driven by problems do not have the need of learning before working. They approach the solutions of problems using the knowledge they have. They only begin to learn when they cannot solve a problem.

Ork, the Martian

Institutional and Cultural Adaptiveness

Adaptive businesses are based on value generation which is the driver of maximal strategies.

Ork landed on earth during a new moon. Nobody saw him coming or knew where he was from. He thought he was nearby a city, New York perhaps; and began to walk towards the lights he saw far away.

He walked through a huge park filled with ghostlike images. There were the nightlife animals and the nightlife people using the darkness to do who knows what.

All was confusing. Suddenly he stopped on a crossroad trying to think what to do next. He stayed there for some time and was stuck in his thoughts. An elegant man saw his hesitation and approached him offering help.

He raised his eyes and found a smile.

“Yes, he replied. “I do not know where I am.”

“Well that is easy. You are in New York and this is the Central Park. My name is Dick and I am an anthropologist studying the nightlife habits of the city.”

“My name is Ork,” replied the visitor, “and I am a Martian. I just came from Mars and transformed into a humanlike body to learn how earthlings live. I was sent to earth by the Ministry of Galactic Relations to research the commercial possibilities with this planet.”

The anthropologist looked at him like he was seeing somebody who thinks he is Napoleon. Lowering his head he gave no answer.

“It is obvious you do not believe me”, replied Ork.  To prove his alien powers Ork appeared and disappeared, making a teleportation demonstration that proved, at least, he was not an earthling.

“How can I help you?” asked the anthropologist; while enjoying having added a new character to the inhabitants’ list of New York’s nightlife.

“Yes”, replied Ork.   “We have heard a lot about developed, underdeveloped and emerging countries. As you are a scholar I would like to ask you whom should we commerce with? Can you please explain to me what this development question is about?”

“Well…. Yes. Yes that is my work as an anthropologist.  You landed in a developed country. This is the United States of America. It is the leading country in the world. I do not say this because I am American, but because it is true.” replied Dick.

“Well, I am glad. I was lucky to “land” here”, replied Ork. “What can I do to know emerging and underdeveloped countries?”

“Well that is very easy replied the anthropologist. Every country has emerging, developing and underdeveloped groups. When the major groups of a country are developed it is a developed country. The same is true when the major groups are emerging or underdeveloped.” replied Dick

Ork smiled. “Then I can learn about developing, under developing and emerging countries here, in New York. Good, then I will be able to understand the earthlings during my first visit. Could you please explain the difference between one and the others?”

“Of course, it is very easy to explain.” replied Dick “Developed countries do things at a certain speed, let us suppose 55 miles per hour. Underdeveloped countries do things at a lower speed, let us suppose 30 mph. Emerging countries do things at a higher speed, therefore they emerge, let’s say 80 mph.”

“So what,’ asked Ork ‘makes the difference?”

“Well, from your point of view it is the same” was Dick’s answer.

“But, considering that you are an expert in teleportation and changing into human appearances I propose you enter into a working room to discover the difference between these cultures.”

“What do you mean?” asked Ork

Stagnant Cultures

Stagnant businesses are sustained by the need to survive which is the driver of minimum strategies.

“What I am saying that if somebody proposes a task in a working group you will see that:

In developed cultures there will be an automatic response of the responsible individual assuming the task.

In underdeveloped cultures you will see everybody has something else to worry about.

In emerging cultures they will fight for assuming the responsibility of the task.” said Dick.

“Why is there a difference?” asked Ork

“Well it is very simple.’ Dick replied. ‘The international standards are established by the developed cultures. I consider that is fair.

Emerging cultures need to grow and have to go faster than the developed cultures. They work while the world rests.

Underdeveloped cultures are so worried about themselves and their survival that they have no time to work for others.”

“Ahhh!!!!” said Ork “Then, who should we commerce with?’

“Look,’ answered the anthropologist. “This is not my specialty. But I would say that if you are looking for raw material you will find it cheaper in underdeveloped countries. If you need to produce, emerging countries will probably be the most efficient. But if you are willing to develop servicing businesses you will find the best place in developed countries.”

“That is easy,” replied Ork. I only have to report Development = production, underdevelopment = services, emergent countries = raw materials.”

“No, it is the opposite.” replied the anthropologist. “Do not mess things up. If you mix the roles the result will not exist and they will blame you and you will have to pay the bill.”

Ork had a tricky smile. “How do you think that the rules of Martian development are?”

And Ork vanished…..

XXI Century: Virtual Collaboration vs. Rationalism and Subjectivism

The implementation of unicist technologies is basically driven by virtual collaboration. This implies a different way of working. The traditional “coaching” using phone or video-conferencing, which is functional for personal coaching, but is dysfunctional for business coaching where results need to be achieved.

Based on empirical information, the increase in productivity, in the specific processes, varies between 20% and 50%.

Subjectivism is the killer of any Virtual Collaboration

Subjectivism at work is the prevalence of subjective, ungrounded opinions, which prevail over any fundament that can be installed by a counterpart. Subjectivism at work, is disguised with a rationalist mask. Subjectivism implies the need of using fallacious perceptions, denial and other fallacies to avoid dealing with the actual problems.

Subjectivism is necessarily driven by manipulation which  requires an extreme use of emotional influence to avoid dealing with the functional aspects of reality.

Therefore virtual collaboration requires working in functional environments where the roles of individuals are recognized by the results they can produce and their capacity of teamwork. The subjectivists can use virtual communication but not virtual collaboration.


The virtual collaboration is the natural way to organize when there is a need of expert knowledge. Nowadays expert knowledge can be integrated in most of the cases by using the IT technologies that allow sharing data and images.

The saving of time and the productivity increase is significant when the conditions for virtual collaboration are given. It allows providing full synchronicity with the needs of clients.

But there are several requirements to implement virtual collaboration:

  1. The virtual collaboration needs that transparency of work becomes part of the culture of an organization.
  2. It needs reliability systems that test the work processes.
  3. It requires customer orientation that fosters fulfillment, synchronicity and reliability.
  4. Personal roles need to be complemented by quality assurance processes to ensure results.

The evolution of genetic research drove to the understanding of Metamorphosis at a superior level. This allows us to complete the research of structural changes that included the applications in the field of education, social evolution and business strategy.

From biology to social sciences


This drawing shows the metamorphosis of a frog. The five different images each show a stage in the development from tadpole to fully grown frog.

We invite our associates to participate in this research by inviting institutionalized organizations to introduce this concept (metamorphosis) to accelerate business growth. There is no cost for them and the credits of the research are shared with all participants.

In social terms a metamorphosis is produced when an entity moves from an over-adaptive stage to an adaptive stage.

This change allows generating structural growth which stabilizes the evolution of institutions.

The knowledge of metamorphosis provides the necessary information to accelerate its process by using social objects that work as catalysts and allow making the transition.

Why do reasoning fallacies destroy businesses and coaching?

As scheduled, we launched our campaign on September 1. Now it is time to have the necessary synchronicity to achieve the goals that were established. In the meantime, you have been receiving “learning objects” to establish a common goal with you. We hope that you have profited from them. Now it is time to ensure success. That is why we invite you to define at which level you want to participate.

Individual Fallacies

The equation 1 + 1 = 2 is simple, like an operational problem. There is only one possible solution and all you have to do is follow a method. But if you need to produce a result, then you have to reverse the equation (2 = ???) and the problem becomes complex. This is the field where the fallacies destroy what they touch.


More than 50% of the marketing strategies do not achieve their goals. This failure rate also happens in all the fields that deal with complex aspects of businesses.

This can only happen if the decisions were driven by fallacious perceptions, fallacious reasoning processes or fallacious assumptions.

But this cannot happen in the Unicist Confederation.

The situation

The coaches and associates, that we are integrating, were educated on the “KNOW HOW” that preexisted to the unicist paradigm shift in sciences. This shift integrated the “KNOW HOW” with the “KNOW WHY” that allowed defining what is possible to be achieved and has made possible the emulation of the organization of nature.

This role is fully functional to coach middle management who is responsible for the operational aspects of businesses. The “WHAT FOR” is the core driver of this activity.

But coaching based on the “KNOW HOW” of operational aspects does not suffice to deal with superior management or with business owners. Without monitoring what is possible to be achieved, fallacies become unavoidable and success is endangered.

Language as Reasoning Structure

The Human Language sustains the conscious reasoning process of individuals. The functionality of language, depending on the type of thought, seeks human integration with reality. The anti-concept of language is given by its fallacious use. It is based on the cultural fallacies of an environment that cannot be perceived as such by its members.

The solution

The unicist paradigm shift provided access to the nature of things.

The nature of things is defined by their concepts that define the “KNOW WHY” that allows avoiding fallacies.

Language as a trigger for fallacious thinking

It is true and universally accepted that the language an individual has is the code she /he uses to emulate the external reality in mind and to influence consciously in the environment.

languagesThere are different types of languages that are functional to manage different aspects of reality. The type of language that an individual has, drives the level of logical thinking that defines the functionality of her / his language.

The unicist ontology of language provides the necessary information to understand the functionality of the different types of languages in order to emulate the external reality and to define conscious actions.

It has to be considered that one of the triggering causes of fallacious thinking is given by the use of a language that cannot emulate a specific aspect of reality.
