Unicist Cobots

We Invite to Adopt the Functionalist Approach

The goal of the development of functionalist technologies was to manage the root-causes of problems, build solutions and develop intelligent systems and cobots (intelligent collaborative robots) to manage adaptive environments.

The functionalist technologies also simplified the management of incidents, by transforming urgent problems into structural solutions, managing the concepts and fundamentals of the functions involved to define the actions that ensure results.

The use of Unicist AI, which is a fundamentals-based AI that is supported by the unicist logic, allowed developing the adaptive automation of processes needed to manage the adaptability and customer orientation introduced by the 4th Industrial Revolution.

The objective of the functionalist approach was to find the functional knowledge that ensured the generation of value. This led to the development of a scientific approach to adaptive systems, that required finding the functional structures that drive the functionality of such adaptive systems.

These functions are described by the unicist ontology, which describes the functionality of what is being studied, and allows defining the ontogenetic maps of functions.

Concept was the name that was given to this functionality of things because this word is used, in plain language, to explain the functionality of something. From a functional point of view, there are three types of concepts that explain different aspects of the real world:

  1. Intrinsic concepts that describe how and why things work.
  2. Extrinsic concepts that describe the use value of things, define their usability and their adaptability.
  3. Mental concepts that describe the concepts people have in mind that drive their actions.

The structure of a concept is defined by the fundamentals of the aspects of the real world that are involved and define the root drivers of its functionality. On the other hand, its dysfunctionality defines the root causes of the functional problems that might appear.

This functionalist approach drove the development of functionalist technologies that simplify the management of adaptive environments. These technologies allowed developing the necessary methodologies and methods that simplify the management of adaptive environments.

Lecture on: Cobots Building using Unicist Logic and Unicist AI

By Peter Belohlavek
October 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM Eastern time

This virtual lecture will be exposing the possibilities of this new stage that were opened by the 4th Industrial Revolution. Cobots are collaborative robots that are based on human-robot interaction to complement human actions.

Lecture on Cobots Building

The Unicist Logic and the Unicist AI that made the development of Cobots possible were developed by Peter Belohlavek at The Unicist Research Institute. In business, there are two possible uses:

1) As part of a backward integration, to sustain decision processes. Cobots simplify processes and save costs.

2) As part of a forward integration, to transform decisions into actions. Cobots allow automating processes to expand possibilities and save costs.

The business applications of Cobots became possible due to the development of the fundamentals-based AI and the binary actions that ensure the generation of results. Cobots are not based on empirical rules; they use the functional rules of the Unicist Logic or use Unicist AI to build empirical solutions.

The unicist logic that describes the functionality of systems of any kind allowed building the Unicist AI, which is a fundamentals-based artificial intelligence that can be complemented with data-based AI when big data needs to be managed. The unicist logic and the Unicist AI are the core drivers of cobots. Cobots foster growth and save costs.

The Functionality of Case-studies and Research-driven Learning to deal with the Unknown

Case studies are frequently used on educational processes aiming a deep dive into a subject. However, by using known theories and techniques, they do not lead the society to evolution nor stimulate reflection for more effective answers.

On the contrary, they create dependence on this approach and a high risk of biased conclusions, by treating as stable an environment in constant change.

The emerging challenges with Coronavirus pandemic and the already installed 4th Industrial Revolution testify the need of dealing with the unknown on problem solving, which is an exclusive approach of conceptual research, as it deals with human beliefs and needs that guide actions (as purchase processes) and not reactions (as stated opinions), allowing the success of marketing strategies in this new era.

Why an Evolutionary Approach?

The Unicist Evolutionary Approach is a fundamental approach to businesses that integrates a strategic approach to business functions, business intelligence and data management to generate sustainable growth. This approach integrates business growth with profitability and sustainability to increase the business value.

The Drivers of the Unicist Evolutionary Approach

The unicist evolutionary approach emulates the triadic organization of nature to foster the evolution of organizations and ensure their sustainability. Evolution needs to be managed to build sustainable organizations in adaptive environments.

The research of business functions and processes that has been developed since 1976, allowed defining their fundamentals.

The unicist fundamental approach to businesses has several precedents:

  1. Fundamental Analysis that allows defining the intrinsic stock value
  2. The Ishikawa method to manage root causes, based on the fundamentals of manufacturing quality
  3. The Overall Equipment Effectiveness method, of Seiichi Nakajima, that manages the fundamentals of effectiveness

The main epistemological precedents of the triadic structure of fundamentals can be found in Immanuel Kant, Charles S. Peirce and the Tao.

Organizational sustainability is based on the use of unicist universal strategies that allow developing future scenarios and building maximal strategies to grow and minimum strategies to ensure results. This unicist strategic approach emulates the functionality of living beings in nature.

This unicist evolutionary approach drives the sustainability of organizations ensuring the achievement of short- and long-term objectives.

Unicist Innovation Strategy

The purpose of innovation is to overcome scarcity. Only people or cultures, who have the will, find the way to overcome scarcity: this is the cultural context that fosters innovation. The driver of innovation is human creation. The word creation is used in the sense of recreation. Humans create based on the existing energy.

Unicist Innovation Strategy

The research on the process of innovation led to the ontological structure of innovation, which is defined as follows:

Four structural segments were identified. These segments of innovators are described as: Artisans, Technologists, Inventors and Discoverers.

The homeostatic function of innovation is freedom. This sounds paradoxical, because we define freedom as the path towards security to innovate. Innovation is sustained by internal and external freedom.

Cultures only develop innovations in the fields where such freedom exists. Censorship or self-censorship inhibits research and innovations.

That is why there are cultures where innovations are centered on arts or technologies, without entering the field of scientific innovation. Social capital, defined as the strength of the bonds among the members of a society, sustains innovations.

Cognitive Systems to Foster Growth & Profitability

The Unicist Cognitive Systems in business manage the root causes, the dynamics and the evolution of the business processes they deal with. They were developed to manage businesses as adaptive systems to foster growth, process improvement, decision making, profit improvement and customer orientation.

Unicist Cognitive Systems

They take advantage of the technologies included in the 4th Industrial Revolution and use the knowledge of the concepts and fundamentals of the business functions to manage their root causes. The installation of Cognitive Systems generates a positive cash flow.

Unicist Cognitive Systems manage the unified fields of business functions using the unicist artificial intelligence to monitor the functionality of their fundamentals to ensure results. These systems are necessary to manage feedback dependent environments.

The Unicist Cognitive Systems were built upon the information provided by the more than 5,000 researches developed since 1976 at The Unicist Research Institute. These researches provided the necessary information to build the systems to support social and business decision making processes.

Industrial Revolution and Mindsets

Industrial Revolutions foster and establish dominant mindsets to fulfill their purposes. These mindsets include the preceding mindset as complementary approaches.

Operational thinking is the dominant mindset in the 1st Industrial Revolution. Mechanization requires operational thinking and the solutions provided by this stage deal with the operation of things.

Analytical thinking is the dominant mindset in the 2nd Industrial Revolution. The analytical approach allows managing mass production in a meaningful way by dividing these masses into manageable entities.

Systemic thinking is the dominant mindset in the 3rd Industrial Revolution. Automation requires envisioning the unified field of the operation and its components in order to build the automated processes.

Conceptual thinking is the dominant mindset in the 4th Industrial Revolution. The Industry 4.0 stage is based in improving the adaptiveness of processes by being fully consumer/user/buyer oriented, increasing the productivity which implies improving the cost/value relation and increasing the quality to become fully reliable.

The Concept of the 4th Industrial Revolution

The birth of an industrial revolution is triggered by new technologies which produce a new industrial stage when they are able to satisfy latent needs of a society. The history of industrial revolutions is that they expand as such in environments where they satisfy the needs of an “establishment” of a culture.

As soon as they begin to have a viral expansion, the industrial revolutions demonstrate their true value and the underlying concepts can be perceived.

In the case of the 4th Industrial Revolution it becomes evident that its purpose is to introduce adaptiveness into industrial and business processes.

It has to be considered that adaptiveness, the concept that underlies flexibility, was always a goal in industry but could not be solved without increasing costs and affecting the quality of the produces. Industry 4.0, due to the now available technologies, introduced adaptiveness but also increased the productivity and quality of the produces.

This opened a new stage that was based on industrial processes, although it deals with businesses as a whole. It introduces adaptiveness by managing the concepts and fundamentals of business functions.  This allows managing the root causes of processes that increase their productivity, quality and ensure their reliability.

The Breakthrough of Root Cause Management

There are breakthroughs in sciences and technologies that establish new stages in their field of influence. The gunpowder, the Theory of Relativity, the Internet, the telephone, the television, the computer, etc. are examples of breakthroughs that triggered new stages.

This is also the case of the unicist approach, which is a paradigm shift in sciences, based on the discovery and emulation of the intelligence that underlies nature that allowed finding the concepts that made possible the management of adaptive environments by knowing the root causes of their functionality.

This root cause approach is necessary in all adaptive aspects of human behavior, but has notorious consequences in the social and business fields.

What was made possible:

1. Managing root causes in business: to develop structural solutions based on the unicist concepts of business functions.

2. Developing maximal and minimum business strategies: emulating the intelligence of nature to expand the boundaries of businesses to grow while ensuring results.

3. Managing the root causes of buying processes: to expand markets by managing the conceptual drivers of the segments to be approached.

4. Unified field architecture: using the unicist conceptual structures of business functions to design structural solutions and build architectures.

5. Managing marketing confrontations: which requires developing the conceptual competitive intelligence to understand and influence the action of competitors.

6. Developing asymmetric future scenarios: forecasting the changes of the scenarios based on the use of ontogenetic maps and using destructive tests to validate the conclusions.

7. Organizing by roles and objects: optimizing the organization of processes based on the knowledge of the concepts of the business functions.

8. Researching adaptive systems with open boundaries: based on the use of the complexity science research methodology to deal with adaptive environments.

9. Developing object driven continuous improvement: using driving, entropy inhibiting, inhibiting, catalyzing and gravitational objects to improve processes.

10. Transforming business problems into structural solutions: by installing In-company Corporate Universities that work as “teaching hospitals in business” using conceptual management and the root causes of problems.

Unicist Operational Objects for Business Processes

Operational Objects are those whose aim is to generate an appropriate value for the people handling them. This means that the operational objects should produce “incomes”.

Operational objects are centered on processes, with non-ambiguous methodologies and implicit quality control systems.

Every object needs to have operational aspects that are useful for the client system to appropriate value since they generate the operation and results.

There are objects that only have operational aspects, and these are those that have the highest obsolescence speed due to the changes in technologies/methodologies.

The maximal strategy of operational objects is defined by the use of an ontological methodology to earn value within an environment based on quality control.

Operational objects require the participation of people who follow this ontological methodology, generate the added value and control the quality of what is being produced.

They are encapsulated methods that need to be strictly fulfilled to ensure the minimum strategy which is based on following taxonomic methods that produce a functional value and are fully reliable.
